Del Coronado hotel, or Hotel Del, as it's so often affectionately called, has been host to celebrities from all over the World, including presidents and heads of states, who love to stay at Del Coronado in San Diego.
Many movies have ben shot on location at Del Coronado, films such as "Some Like It Hot" with Marilyn Monroe. It's claimed that the Duke of Windsor met Wallis Simpson at Hotel Del Coronado. Sixteen years later he abdicated the throne of England to marry her.
I have personally stayed at Hotel Del and can attest to its fine reputation as a World Class Resort Hotel. This is one of the best destination hotels for weddings, anniversaries, or that special once in a life time vacation you always dreamt you would have.
The hotels location on the Coronado Peninsula with its beautiful wide, white sandy beach is spectacular to say the least.

The Del, or Hotel Del, as the locals call it, was opened February 19, 1888, on the Coronado Peninsula accross from San Diego, which at the time was only a small port. One of the most celebrated structures in the World, Hotel Del Coronado, is also one of the largest wooden structures in existance, and an outstanding example of beautiful and graceful Victorian architecture.

Another piece of Hotel Del history. Frank Sinatra filmed the "Stuntman" here during the summer of 1977. Del Coronado was also a favorite vacation spot for President Reagan and his family for years.

The details of the Victorian style building is amazing. The new additions have also been built true to the original.

The grounds and gardens at The Del Hotel are absolutely beautiful that's for sure. I always enjoy strolling around admiring the lushly landscaped gardens with the colorful California style flowerbeds.

The pool area at the Del Hotel is wonderful with its spectacular view of the Coronado Beach. And the pool service is great as well, with food and cocktails available all day long.

Hotel Del is a beachfront resort hotel and it has one of the best beaches in California at its doorstep. A wide sandy beach with crystal clear waters that's perfect for swimming or body surfing.
It's a wonderful beach for families with young children, as it's a very kid friendly beach. And its large enough, so if you want a private spot, you can usually find it.

This is most likely the best Sunday brunch you will ever have. It's held in the hotels historic Crown Room. I took my Swedish father for brunch here on his first visit to Southern California and the USA in 1968. He often refered to it, as the best meal he ever had.
The buffet is fantastic, as you can imagine, the best and the finest food is offered on beautifully decorated buffet tables. They have a pianist playing here every Sunday while you are enjoying the delicious Del Coronado Sunday brunch.

Hotel Del is one of the most romantic places for a Southern California Wedding. It was voted the number one Wedding Destination in America by the Travel Channel.
There are so many possibilites for a wedding theme site at this resort. A grand scale wedding could be held in the fabulous ballroom, or if you rather have a garden wedding, that would be equally wonderful and romantic.

Their stunning interior garden with the Victorian style Gazebo would be fabulous for a wedding cermony. There is actually lots of room for guests in the garden around the Gazebo, so if you are having a large wedding party there is plenty of room. It is also more protected against the elements, if your wedding happened to be a windy day.

You can also get married right on the beach, summer is best for beach weddings though. The Del has 42 very beautiful public rooms that are wonderfully decorated. So whatever wedding theme you have in mind, you can have your dream wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado. Who wouldn't want to get married here?

This is a story of a woman named Kate Morgan, who checked into the Del Hotel on Novemer 25, 1892, and she never checked out. Since the death of this young woman, sightings of ghosts have been reported and circulated at the Hotel Coronado ever since.
Some people call it the Haunted Hotel Del Coronado. However, whenever I stayed here, I never heard or saw anything ghostly.
