These are local Los Angeles tour companies, that have the best guided tours of the Los Angeles area sights and attractions in Southern California.

Many people prefer a guide tour, instead of going on their own, because it's really hard to see all these things on your own, so I recommend taking at least one or two tours if you are a tourist in Los Angeles.

I have personally been on all of these LA tours with out of town friends and relatives, and I think they are a great way to see Los Angeles.

If you like an insiders look at Beverly Hills and Hollywood, the Casablanca Tours is the best.

Another LA tour company we like is the Starline Tours Of Hollywood. They'll pick you up from any Hollywood area hotel, and from the Graumann's Chinese Theater, and they will show you the best of the Hollywood attractions.

CASABLANCA TOURS: Phone: (323)461-0156. Established in 1980, and have tours all over Los Angeles. However, they specialize in giving you an insiders look at Hollywood and Beverly Hills. They offer 2 and 4 hour tour versions. Mostly minibuses with a 14 seat maximum capacity. Other tours are in 25 seater buses.

L.A. TOURS AND SIGHTSEEING: Phone: (323)460-6490. They have several tours in downtown LA, Hollywood and Beverly Hills. They also offer tours to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain, the beaches and the also the movie stars homes. You'll wear special audio systems that will block traffic noise. You get a Hollywood history lesson, and find out about the grand old days of downtown LA, and see unique architecture.

L.A. CONSERVATORY TOURS: Phone: (213)623-2489. This is a wonderful architectual themed guided walking tour of Downtown Los Angeles. Only on every Saturday mornings.

NEON CRUISE: Phone: (213)489-9918. This is a night-time tour of Los Angeles neon signs, organized by the Museum Of Neon Art. It will take you to unique illuminating neon signs, some historic, some newer, but all are fabulous. We love the sparkling neon signs of the old movie marquees.

BOAT TOURS: Here are the best ones. Hornblower Cruises from Marina Del Rey, (323)301-6000. Spirit Cruises from Shoreline Village in Long Beach, (310)548-8080. Los Angeles Harbor Cruises from Ports O' Call, Berth 78, in San Pedro, (310)831-0996. These are also all departure points for harbors and whale watching cruise trips.

GONDOLA GETAWAY: Phone: (562)433-9595. You'll be riding on the canals of Long Beach's Naples neighborhood on an authentic Venitian gondola from Italy. A very unique Los Angeles tourism tour.

STARLINE TOURS: Phone: (800)959-3131. Tours depart all day long. These are narrated bus tours, some with open upper decks, of Los Angeles, the famous Movie Stars Homes Tour, and a 5 hour Grand Tour Of Los Angeles. You choose which one you would like to take.

ARCHITECTURE TOURS L.A.: Phone: (323)464-7868. You'll explore the unique and beautiful architcture of Los Angeles. The tours are by area, so you can choose between Hollywood, Silver Lake, Pasadena or Downtown. The tours depart daily at 9:30 AM and at 1:30 PM.

CATALINA ISLAND DISCOVERY TOURS: Phone: (800)626-1496. You'll have to take the boat to Catalina Island to take these island tours. Once there, you can choose between land or sea based excursions lasting form one to 4 hours. They also have the famous Glassbottom Boat Tour and a wonderful Island Tour. You can either call, or book your tour at the Green Pier on Avalon.

ART MUSEUM TOURS: LACMA in Midtown on Wilshire Boulevard has five different gallery talking tours every day. The Getty Museum also offers tours daily of art, architecture, and the gardens.
