La Jolla: a very upscale and popular resort with a stunning rocky coast and many fine beaches. It's technically part of San Diego, but the feel and look is definitely more wealthy.

Balboa Island: this is a very charming and very romantic small island near Newport Beach in Orange County. Explore the island on foot with it's quant storybook houses, unique specialty shops, restaurants and beaches.

Coronado: Located across the bay from downtown San Diego, Coronado is home to the most romantic hotel in the US, Hotel del Coronado. This peninsula island is a very fashionable getaway.

Malibu: a very popular celebrity retreat since the 1920's, Malibu's spectacularly beautiful coastline with 27 miles of pristine beaches is the main reason to visit this laid back wealthy and romantic beach community.

Laguna Beach: one of the most romantic travel destinations on the Southern California coast, this town is drop dead gorgeous. Its seaside cliffs, pristine beaches and quaint early California feel, it's the prettiest place south of Los Angeles.

Dana Point: Dana Point was the only major port in Southern California at the turn of the 19th century. Today this romantic town with natural coves,has a modern marina, and whale watching cruises from November through March.

Carlsbad: a very romantic beach resort in Northern San Diego County is named after an Bohemian spa Karlsbad. The city's European architechture reflects its background. Scenic beach walks and guided hikes are available.

Santa Barbara: this town is called the American Riviera for a reason. Located on a narrow strech of land between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara is one of Southern Californias 's best vacation areas.

Hermosa Beach: This beach city is the quintessential all American beach town. Wide sandy beaches, a wonderful pier, a festive atmosphere with lots of young people having fun. Home to annual volleyball festivals and street fairs.

Manhattan Beach: A casual, yet romantic, affluent and very pretty beach city that you'll love. There are lots of great shops and fine restaurants near the pier area, which is also a major surfing spot. Surfing lesson are available here.

Julian: This charming romantic town surrounded by apple orchards, is located in the San Diego backcountry. It's a late 1800's mining town known for its spring wildflowers and autumn apple harvest and fall festivals.

Palos Verdes Peninsula: Palos Verdes is contoured by three coves. The largest is Malaga Cove, next to the Torrance City Beach on Paseo del Mar Avenue. The others are Bluff Cove and Lunada Bay Cove.

Temecula: the 'Old Town Temecula" is full of historic buildings from the 1800's, and is an antique lovers delight. The countryside is known as Temecula Wine Country, with more than 25 wineries.

Lake Arrowhead: we love this popular and so romantic mountain resort town in the San Bernadino National Forest. Fishing, hiking, boating and winter sports are great in this place. The lake is spectacular!

Palm Springs: this romantic and fashionable desert resort has almost 350 days of sunshine per year, and the average daily temperature is 75 degrees. The idyllic setting, and gorgeous golf courses has attracted the rich and famous for years.

Ojai: a romantic oak studded artist colony nestled against the mountains north of Ventura. We love its small downtown with its distinctive Spanish Revival architecture and the wonderful Libbey Park.
