It was financed by movie greats such as Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbank, Marcus Loew and Louis B. Mayer. Soon it became the hot gathering place for Hollywood celebrities, and it was used as a venue for post-premiere parties. The famous Blossom Ballroom is where the very first Academy Awards presentation was held on May 16, 1929. ![]() View Of The Roosevelt Hotel And Pool Area
The Roosevelt Hotel Hollywood has been renovated two times, in 1985 and in 2005. The two story Spanish Colonial hotel lobby is exquisite, with painted beamed ceilings, and ornate wrought iron grill work. The tile steps leading to the mezzanine is where Bill "Bojangles" Robinson taught Shirley Temple how to do the staircase dance. Every time I climb those tiled stairs I think about that.
Some of the Roosevelt's famous guests where Charlie Chaplin, David Niven and Marilyn Monroe. While filming From Here To Eternity in 1952, actor Montgomery Clift used room No 928 for three months. Marilyn Monroe posed for her very first ad (it was for suntan lotion) on the diving board of the hotels swimming pool.
It's located right across the street from the famous Mann's Chinese Theater and the Hollywood and Highland Center. Several of our relatives have stayed here and really enjoyed it. You can't beat the location in the heart of Hollywood, with walking distance to all the Hollywood Attractions. We love the trendy, although a bit expensive Dakota Steakhouse restaurant, and the hip Tropicana bar by the gorgeous pool area.
