Best Solvang Hotels And Restaurants !

What to do in Solvang California. Information about Solvang motels and lodgings, as well as Solvang wine tasting, and fun events and festivals throughout the year. That's what this page is all about.

We have been taking trips to Solvang from Los Angeles Southern California for over 30 years, and really know this town.

I grew up in Sweden across from Denmark, and my husband and I love this Danish town near Santa Barbara in the Santa Ynez Valley.

The city of Solvang is a perfect getaway for a romantic weekend in Southern California.

It's located 5 miles south of Los Olivos on Alamo Pintado Road, off highway 246, 3 miles east of US 101.

As you enter the town, the architecture changes to authentic, charming Danish half-timber buildings and windmills. It's so enchanting, you feel like you entered a storybook town.

Solvang California was settled in year 1911 (one hundred years ago) by Danish educator settlers. Even today most of the towns residents are of Danish descent.

The best thing about visiting Solvang is the the beauty of the place, and the charming village style character of this wonderful picture perfect town.

And you don't need a car to get around, everything is within walking distance. Just park it in any of the FREE parking lots in town.

We love the Danish bakeries, the unique selection of locally owned shops, art galleries, the many wine tasting rooms around town, and don't forget the authentic Danish food. These are the things we enjoy here.

What To Do In Solvang California

This Danish Southern California town has almost 300 days of sunshine, so it's a perfect Los Angeles getaway for a weekend, anytime of the year.

The Solvang activities we enjoy the most are shopping at the many unique boutiques, shops and art galleries in town.

We also love sampling the local wines in the dozen winetasting rooms, all within walking distance of your hotel or motel.

Another thing we like to do when coming here is to eat in our favorite restaurants in Solvang, such as Bit O'Denmark and the Red Viking restaurant.

Since I grew up in Sweden, I love the authentic Danish food, but my Italian husband enjoys it equally, and so do our kids.

And lets not forget the many wonderful Danish bakeries here. They are a great place to have a quality sip of coffee with some freshly baked Danish pastries to go along. Yum!

Please, do not leave without having a serving of the Danish Aebleskivers. A delicacy that you'll enjoy for sure. You will find them on the menu of the many restaurants serving Danish food.

Solvang Events and Festivals

There are lots of special events throughout the year here. The biggest and most famous event is the Danish Days festival held in September every year.

We always try to take a trip to Solvang during this time. The town is full of Scandinavians which makes it very special for us, and for many others of Scandivanian descents.
