Three Days Of Fun For Kids
DAY 1: Daytime:
Take your kids to the California Science Center. The admission is FREE and it's a lot of fun for kids.
It's located in the Exposition Park downtown Los Angeles. If you are staying in Hollywood, you can take the LA Metro Rail there if you like.
At the Science Center you'll find cool things to do in Los Angeles for kids such as hands-on stuff to build, and many cool science experiments. This visit will build your kids interest in science for sure.
Afterwards, go and watch an eye-popping IMEX movie next door. It's absolutely fantastic, and your kids will love it, guaranteed.
Then head over to the LA LIVE Nokia Theater complex to visit the Grammy Museum. It's all about music and playing music.
Here your kids can play air guitar and play their own music. It's a very fun and cool museum for kids, because kids do like music a lot. But it's also fun for the grown-ups.
Night Time: Watch a show at the Nokia Theater or take in a Lakers game at the Staples Center. It's a great center, and there are always celebrities at these games, so bring your cameras.
Book your hotel room at the new JW Marriott Hotel. They have a cool rooftop pool. It's a stylish hotel that's great for families.
Santa Moica Pier
DAY 2 Daytime:
One of the things to do in Los Angeles for kids on day two is to head over to the Santa Monica Pier, with its solar-powered Ferris wheel and the Pacific Park amusement area, great for kids. Grown-ups will love taking in the breathtaking views of the Los Angeles Coastline from the pier.
We always ride the Ferris wheel when here, and I recommend you do also, you'll absolutely love it. I could ride it over and over again.
On the pier have lunch at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Restaurant. We always eat there when visiting the pier. A very kid friendly restaurant with great food you'll enjoy at good prices.
Afterwards, take the short walk over to Third Street Promenade for some shopping and frozen yogurt at Pinkberry's. We love their frozen yogurts with all the delicious toppings.
Then head over to nearby Venice Beach Boardwalk for family surfing lessons, or check out the new beachfront skatepark.
When thinking of fun things to do in Los Angeles for kids, a fun family activity is bicycling on the beach bike path along the ocean. It's a 22 mile long bike path. We have biked all the way to Torrance beach at the foot of the Palos Verdes Peninsule many times. You can rent bikes, either by the Santa Monica Pier or, at Venice Beach.
Night Time: Return to the LA LIVE Nokia Theater complex downtown to play at ESPN Zone sports arena. It's has 10,000 square feet of interactive games, and over 150 huge HD TV's that broadcast every sport on the planet, plus burgers, pizzas, wings and more good eats kids like.
Olvera Street Los Angeles
DAY 3: Daytime:
Start out the day by visiting historic Olvera Street downtown Los Angeles. It's the oldest street in LA, and a place we always take our first time visitors to in Los Angeles. Your kids will like it also.
It's a wonderful, colorful piece of Mexican culture. A walking street filled with handmade Mexican crafts, entertainment and music, and inexpensive sidewalk restaurants we always enjoy eating at.
Then head up to Griffith Park for a horse back ride or train ride at the park. Then go to the fabulous newly renovated Griffith Park Observatory to take in the Planetarium Show from outer space taken by the Hubble space telescope. It's a most fascinating show you shouldn't miss. Your kids will love it, and it's very educational, as well as fun.
You can also take in the nearby Los Angeles Zoo and have fun at Universal Studios Hollywood and ride the new King Kong Ride there.
Night Time:One of great things to do in Los Angeles for kids at night is to head over to
Hollywwod and check out the celebrities at the Madame Tussaurds of Hollywood Wax Museum, and the stars on the Hollywood Wak of Fame. Michael Jackson's star is on Vine Street, between Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd, right ouside the front doors of the Bed and Bath store.
While in Hollywood you should also visit the World famous Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Your kids will have fun trying out all the handprints and footprints of all the famous movie stars there. The Boulevard is full of great souvenier shops so you kids will really enjoy shopping for souveniers to take home from their Los Angeles vacation.
